GWSS 250 – Gender, Pop Culture, and Representation
In this class, we apply a critical feminist lens to the representation of gender in popular cultural media including film, TV, music, the Internet, social media, video games, and magazines. Employing intersectional theory, other social categories are considered, including but not limited to, sexuality, race, ability, and class.
GWSS 266 – Gender, Health, and Marginalization
This interdisciplinary course explores personal, social, and political concerns regarding health, including public health practice, epidemiologic research, health policy, and access to health services. Examples include cardiovascular disease, hormone therapy, pregnancy, birth, sexually transmitted infections, abortion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, contraceptives, and mental health. The course aims to foster the development of critical and innovative approaches to the understanding of health and gender through a multidisciplinary approach.

WMST 490 – Senior Capstone in Women’s & Gender Studies
The capstone is meant to help students synthesize what they’ve learned throughout their work toward the degree. In the Women’s & Gender Studies capstone, we typically work as a class or in small groups on a research project that is designed to bring together and expand our knowledge in our field in some pragmatic, tangible way, to create something new.
